On behalf of our entire staff, we would like to welcome our new students as well as the old ones. It is with great honour and much enthusiasm that we publish our first newsletter for the 2020 academic school year. Much planning, construction and hard work has gone into preparing for a successful school year. This is the year we have been waiting for!

Finally, we are a consolidated Pre-school through to Grade 10 School.Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Mr Sipho Michael Mkhonto and I am the principal of your lovely schools Child Academy Combined School.

I am so thrilled to welcome you to thee 2020 School year and I am looking forward to meeting new faces, revisiting with familiar ones, as well as hearing all about your festive holiday adventures.

For those of you who have not met me, I entered the teaching fraternity in January 1986, after completing and obtaining my teaching qualifications in 1985 December. I taught in several different schools as a PL1 teacher promoted to PL2 and PL3 positions.Let me begin by introducing myself.

I taught in several different schools as a PL1 teacher promoted to PL2 and PL3 positions.

It was only in 2004 when I got promoted to a position of principal. I have been in administration for the past 16 years. Currently, this is my 9th year as the principal of Child Academy Combined School. I am                                                                                                                            very excited to work together to make this a fabulous new school year.

Additionally, I would like to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to our custodial staff. They worked diligently throughout the holidays to clean and make our school ready. Many facility updates from structural to technological, took place and are continuing to happen as we speak.

All teachers and support staff have spent hours preparing materials, creating child-centered classrooms which are looking very much amazing. The school secretaries have registered new students, put together information packets to be given to prospective parents.

I would also like to extend a special welcoming to our newly introduced Grade 10 class of 2020. This is the first of its kind. Though some of them are old folk in the school, but they are new in the grade 10 class. Guess what? There are 100 students enrolled in the grade 10 classes. I know that this class of 2020-2022 is a welcome addition to our community. As you settle in, you will be receiving newsletters from the school office and the classroom teacher.

FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

Our school is preparing to introduce coding and robotics in grade R – grade 3. This will introduce our students into the world of Science and Technology which will get them ready to face the life in this ever changing world of opportunities. I.T. and CAT have already been introduced in Grade 10. The school has a state of the art computer lab with 40 computers. This enables each student to sit in front of his/her own computer during the lesson time. Is it not good?

We are very much looking forward to watching the student’s stream off of their transport and to have the school yard and the hallways filled with the hustle and tussle that has been absent all the festive holidays.

As excited as I am to offer this monthly Newsletter, it is the face-to-face interaction that I value most. Please know that we have an open door policy and welcome any opportunity to meet with you. We are looking forward to our collaboration in providing a safe and nurturing environment as well as a challenging and diverse curriculum.

THIS WILL BE A FANTASTIC YEAR.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom”

Proverbs 9:10

Yours Sincerely,

Mr S.M. Mkhonto

(CAP Principal)
